Katie Mathis
is a server (as well as the "Music Director") at flour + water, an uber-popular Italian restaurant in the Mission District. Dining at flour + water is a full-on sensory experience. From the flavorful food, to the gorgeous decor, to the thoughtfully selected music, it's the kind of place where friends and family go to catch up, celebrate, and enjoy each other's company for hours on end. Katie plays full albums at the restaurant, with the idea that each one reflects the flow of service and helps to set the mood for each phase of the evening. She gravitates towards playful and energetic tunes with a fun, kinda sexy vibe, that tend to fall into the categories of electronic pop and alternative rock. Her mix is a stellar collection of songs pulled off of albums she currently can't get enough of.
Here is Katie's carefully layered mixtape, called "Crispy Trotter," named after one of her favorite antipasti on the flour + water menu.
1. Barnacles – Ugly Casanova
2. I'm In Touch With Your World – The Cars
3. S'cooled – Blood Orange
4. The Beach Party – Hot Chip
5. On Parade – Electrelane
6. Hanging Onto Every Heartbeat – Cut Copy
7. Shake Your Caboose – Tim Carr
8. Summertearz – Little Dragon
9. Taiwanese Boots – Fujiya & Miyagi
10. Stay Up Late – Talking Heads
11. Get Behind The Mule – Tom Waits
Go into flour + water any day of the week to check out Katie's jams.
