Basement Bootleg: A Speakeasy Affair

San Francisco has a colorful history of harboring swanky speakeasies. During Prohibition, the city was littered with secret drinking spots, and there are still a handful of discreet watering holes around town. Following in this grand local tradition, The Bold Italic will be sneaking you through the backdoor to our very own private speakeasy affair on Thursday, July 15 from 8 until 10 p.m.  

We’ll be covertly toasting that evening at an undisclosed location—for now, we’ll only tell you that we’ll be hiding out below a Mission retailer with an eye for vintage artifacts. This premium soiree is limited to 60 guests, who will be served classic cocktails from Bulleit Bourbon themed to the occasion, wine from Forlorn Hope, beer from Magnolia Brewery, and delicious bites from local merchants, including Pica Pica Maize Kitchen, Aidells, Sour Flour, mmm butter!, Slow Jams, and Mission Minis. Revelers will dance to the old-timey tunes of Seth Augustus from Mission-based label Porto Franco Records, and we’ll get the lowdown on local speakeasies over the ages from the San Francisco Appreciation Society. Dress in your classiest secret society best. 

Tickets are $28, and the price includes sponsored cocktails, beer, wine, and bites. You'll also receive the speakeasy password to get in — that is, if you can keep a secret.
