Vol. 2 Magazine & Noise Pop Up Shop Launch Party

People sometimes ask us, What's next for the Bold Italic? Well, the simple answer to that question is the second volume of our magazine, which we see as an entertaining visual conversation around that same query. As we told you last week, our What's Next issue is a collection of illustrations, photographs, interviews, personal essays, bizarre fantasies, and droll riffs on personal, professional, romantic, artistic, and other sorts of futures in San Francisco as envisioned by our Bold Locals.

We're celebrating the release of our second issue as well as our complete office redesign by Workshop's Kelly Malone on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 7-10 p.m. at The Bold Italic's headquarters at 34 Page St. We're partnering with Noise Pop for this special event, which doubles as the launch of the Noise Pop-Up Shop. Our music fiend friends are taking over our space from Feb. 2 through the 18th, with different events happening here on various evenings throughout the month.

The mag launch and Pop-Up kickoff bring to life select bits from the publication. We'll have musical performances by The Soft White Sixties and Tim Cohen's Magic Trick, as well as a DJ set from Britt Govea of folkYEAH! Red Letter Day will give away the Make Your Own Valentine fanzine and host a valentine-making station. Secret Seven Records will display a selection from its roster of releases by local bands and rare albums from the '60s-'80s. Ourshelves, a volunteer-run library, will present a short reading and display a few books from its collection. Bring a t-shirt or other article of clothing for live screen printing by San Franpsycho. Hungry? Soul Groove will provide chicken and waffles, Wise Sons will sell Jewish deli eats, and Cat's Head BBQ will have their sliders on hand. You can wash all that down with beverages from a bar featuring Trumer and Fernet, Hudson Whiskey, and Stoli. 

The event is free but space is limited, so please RSVP so we can anticipate how many folks are coming.
