Go meet David at Caffeinated Comics. He's a bit of a twist to the usual stereotype. And a sweet place to hang out too. http://www.caffcom.com

Excellent piece, great illustrations (as usual) and a fond memory of Shirley (or as fond as they get, anyway). That old comic book smell still takes me back to Buried Under (old location).

i concur with @larry. great illustrations and amusing profiles of 3 comic book store owners.

Comix Experience is my main shop, love those guys! Isotope is great too. I need to check out Mission Comics.
Comics Outpost in the Sunset is pretty cool too, and Whatever! comics in Castro also worth a look. Neon Monster is a neat little neighborhood store with an interesting variety.

Leef has been super awesome and supportive with helping to promote and sell my first book. Of the decades I've spent in comics shops, Leef is the most approachable and least intimidating shop owner/manager I've met. I credit this article for introducing me to him and Mission: Comics.
