Dimples Karaoke Bar is Shut Down and No One is Surprised — The Bold Italic — San Francisco
By Lauryn McCarthy

If you’ve been to Dimples on Post Street, chances are things got weird. So, it will come as no surprise to those who had the chance to frequent this private room karaoke bar in Japantown, that some shady practices were taking place right before our eyes. CBS 5 reports today that the California Alcohol and Beverage Commission has closed the joint for 45 days for allegedly charging a surcharge on drinks in return for female company. I suppose that’s what was going on that one time the hostess told me she had a client and would be back in 10 minutes.
The bar will be put on probation for three years and their license will be revoked if there are any similar violations within that time period. As noted on SFist, Pagoda, the bar next door had the same thing happen to them in February. Both bars were busted by undercover sting operations by the ABC.
So folks, the leisure of smoking indoors and the adventure of being taken to the secret downstairs bar are gone. Dimples as we know it is probably done.
