Oakland is the “Eighth Best City for Gamers,” Apparently

In case you thought gamers based their housing decisions only on ease of access to glare-reducing shutters, real estate analytics firm Trulia and Ookla (the company that comes up high in the results when you search for “test my Internet speed”) collaborated to produce an infographic list—the Top 10 Legendary Gaming Metros—with the intention of helping gamers find that perfect windowless basement with a healthy number of three-prong outlets. And the Oakland-Berkeley-Hayward metro area came in at #8, weirdly.

Trulia and Ookla’s methodology for their list of best “gaming metros” included Internet latency, download rates, proximity to “gaming-related stores” and home affordability. Call me a critic, but I feel like a better methodology would include “Flamin’ Hot Cheetos sales,” “ease of access to Monster energy drinks” or “Gamergate trolls per capita.”

Fellow gamers, grab those controllers, and get thee to the East Bay so you can continue to stay inside all day staring at a screen.
