Last year on Valentine’s Day, most of us had barely heard of Covid-19. Now we not only hear — but process, fear, and lament — the word an average of 500 times on a daily basis (we made that up). Over the past 11 months, we’ve had to learn to adapt and celebrate almost every major holiday differently during the pandemic — we did the Zoom Christmas, small turkey Thanksgiving, etc. — and now, V Day. As with each before it, we’re here to help you figure this one out, too.

With the reopening of San Francisco restaurants officially on hold — there’s no doubt fine dining is going to look different for months, maybe years, to come. As we’ve seen since shelter-in-place took effect, upscale restaurants have had to get creative, many offering multi-course meals to take home, heavy on premium ingredients.

Support restaurants with curbside pickup and delivery orders

One of our greatest treasures is on the front lines: our restaurants. The Bay Area’s eateries represent nearly every race and culture, making our region one of the most vibrant, diverse dining destinations in the world. Amid Covid-19, the industry is being devastated with closures — many temporary, but others will, unfortunately, be closing shop for good. However, hundreds of local restaurants are still doing takeout with curbside pickup and no-contact delivery, with heightened hygiene practices.

Some restaurants are taking orders directly, while many others are delivering via gig workers on apps. The apps, overwhelmed with deliveries, have made moves…
